On October 18th at 7am(!), I picked up father and son from a hotel in the center of Amsterdam. We drove to the amazing flower auction, FloraHolland in Aalsmeer. They sell over 43 million flowers and 5 million plants every (week)day, and if you are there early enough, you get to see all the activity that goes on in the immensely 128 acres large hall. Until 2008 the largest building in Europe.

After the flower market, we went to see the 19th century steam engine Cruquius before we drove to the Zaanse Schans for a visit of the beautiful wooden windmills.
